Milken Alliance to Improve Dementia Care

This work started with a mother and a diagnosis.
Founder Dani Klein Modisett is a comedian, author, and TEDx speaker who became a caregiver for her mother after an Alzheimer's diagnosis. She discovered firsthand how laughter — not forced cheerfulness, but genuine human playfulness — transformed the experience of caring for someone with cognitive decline.
That experience became Laughter on Call. Today, Dani is a member of the Milken Alliance to Improve Dementia Care and has developed a practitioner framework used by caregivers, healthcare organizations, and senior living communities nationwide.

Frequently Asked Questions
No — it's an interactive experience. Our comedian-facilitators lead improv-based programming where residents participate at whatever level feels comfortable. There is no script, no judgment, and never any moment of being laughed at.
Yes — it's our specialty. About half the residents we serve are living with Alzheimer's or other dementias. Our intake form lets us know exactly who they are, what they love, and how to meet them where they are.
Sessions blend music, pictures, dance, and physical comedy with shared storytelling. We always validate feelings, never shame, and adapt in real time to the energy of the room.
Most sessions run 30–60 minutes for groups of 5 to 50+ residents. We adjust pacing, music volume, and movement to fit the cognitive and physical range of the group.
All three. Many communities do a hybrid model — residents gather in a common room with a large screen, and remote residents join from their rooms.
Programs are customized to your community, so pricing depends on frequency, group size, and session length. Book a free 20-minute call and we'll put together a tailored proposal.
Yes. We offer train-the-trainer workshops so your in-house team can carry the same playful, person-centered approach into everyday moments — long after our session ends.
